In TCVM, the Spleen governs digestion, nutrient transformation, and the production of Qi and Blood. When Spleen Qi is deficient, physical symptoms often appear as digestive weakness, poor nutrient absorption, and loss of muscle mass. Beef spleen treats apply the "Like Treats Like" principle to directly nourish the Spleen meridian and strengthen Spleen Qi.
In Five Element Theory, each organ system is connected to specific emotions. The Earth Element and Spleen meridian govern worry, overthinking, and pensiveness. When the Earth Element is balanced, pets are calm, focused, and grounded. When deficient or in excess, emotional imbalance in the Earth sphere can manifest behaviorally.
From a Western nutritional perspective, beef spleen is a concentrated source of bioavailable micronutrients that support specific physical health functions in dogs and cats.
In Five Element Theory, the Spleen and Stomach belong to the Earth Element, which governs digestion, nutrient transformation, muscle tone, and the emotional qualities of patience, stability, and groundedness. When the Earth Element is balanced, pets digest efficiently, maintain healthy weight and muscle mass, and respond to stress with calm resilience. When it is deficient, pets may experience loose stools, weight loss, muscle wasting, fatigue, or anxious and overthinking behaviors.
The "Like Treats Like" principle of TCVM food therapy holds that feeding an organ to an animal supports the health of that same organ system. Feeding beef spleen directly nourishes the Spleen and Stomach meridians, strengthens Spleen Qi, and supports the body's ability to transform food into Blood and vital energy. Combined with beef spleen's rich nutritional profile, these treats offer both Eastern food therapy and concentrated Western nutrition in a single ingredient.
PET | TAO Beef Spleen Treats are single-ingredient freeze-dried treats for dogs and cats made from 100% beef spleen with no added fillers, flavors, or preservatives. Serve them as a snack or training reward, or reconstitute them in warm water for 3 to 5 minutes and use them as a nutrient-dense food topper. Each 3 oz bag provides approximately 5,200 kcal ME/kg.
In TCVM, the Spleen belongs to the Earth Element and governs digestion, muscle tone, nutrient absorption, and emotional stability. Beef spleen treats apply the "Like Treats Like" principle of food therapy: feeding the spleen organ directly nourishes the Spleen meridian, strengthens Spleen Qi, and supports the body's ability to transform food into Blood and vital energy. The Earth Element also governs the emotions of worry and overthinking, so beef spleen treats may support both physical digestive health and emotional grounding in anxious pets.
These treats are especially well-suited for senior pets, pets recovering from illness, dogs or cats experiencing weight loss, muscle atrophy, or digestive sensitivities, and pets with anxious or worried temperaments. A geriatric dog with loose stools, weight loss, and muscle wasting is an ideal candidate: beef spleen's potassium and pantothenic acid support energy production and help prevent further muscle loss. These treats do not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
For best therapeutic results, feed 1 to 3 treats daily for pets under 25 lbs, 3 to 5 treats for pets 26 to 50 lbs, and up to 10 treats daily for pets over 50 lbs. Adjust based on your pet's total daily calorie needs and diet. You can also crumble treats over food as a topper for picky eaters or pets with reduced appetite.

Would you please assist me in calculating calories for a quarter cup of the freeze dried Pet Tao Beed Spleen?
Thank you for your question! The calories are measured by weight, and there are 92 kcal/oz. There are 3 oz in a bag of Spleen treats. There are roughly 2 cups in a bag of Spleen trreats (this is a volume measurement, so it can vary depending on the size of the pieces). So, 1/4 cup is roughly 34.5 kcal. What is your method of killing pathogens and bacteria prior to freeze drying?
Thank you for your question! Before freeze drying, PET | TAO doesn't do anything to kill backteria. After freeze drying, the result is a product that has so little moisture that bacteria and pathogens cannot proliferate. The products are tested after each batch for certain bacteria and counts. Here's a blog post PET | TAO wrote about their process:https://pettao.com/freeze-dried-pet-treats/

My 13.5 yr old Boston Terrier (M Neutered) was diagnosed with possible hemangiosarcoma after an abdominal ultra-sound and CT scan. 3 cm in spleen and metastasis to his liver. They gave us days... 3 1/2 weeks later he is doing great. He is taking a stasis breaker, Wei Qi, Mushroom Concentrate, Yunnan Baiyao, Tranexamic Acid & Gabapentin. Do you think that the spleen treats will be an added benefit? I will do anything to give him more time. He is my soul.
Hi, thank you for your question!
Yes, according to TCVM theory, feeding your dog spleen tonifys and helps restore the spleen meridian. As few as 5-6 daily treats can help our dog feel better.
This article by our founding veterinarian, Dr. Smith, explains splenic hemangiosarcoma. https://pettao.com/hate-dog-spleen-cancer/.
