In TCVM, the Spleen meridian governs both physical digestion and emotional processing. Beef spleen treats provide food therapy support for both dimensions of Spleen health.

TCVM and emotional aspects of the Spleen meridian:
In the Five Element Theory, the Spleen and Stomach are associated with the Earth Element. The Earth Element regulates digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall energy. Feeding beef spleen to dogs and cats can help strengthen the Earth Element and support Spleen and Stomach health and function.
The Spleen plays a critical role in producing and maintaining blood and Qi (vital energy) in the body. Beef spleen is rich in iron, vitamins, and minerals, which can help nourish the blood and support overall vitality.
According to TCVM, the Spleen is vital for proper digestion and metabolism. Feeding beef spleen can help strengthen Spleen Qi, thereby improving digestive health and nutrient absorption.
The theory of "Like Treats Like" suggests that feeding a particular organ from one animal to the corresponding organ in another animal helps support that organ's health. Feeding beef spleen to dogs and cats supports and nourishes the spleen, which can improve overall health, especially digestion and immunity.
A geriatric dog with multiple health problems (including loose stools, weight loss, emaciation, and muscle atrophy) is an ideal candidate for spleen treats. Since spleens are rich in pantothenic acid and potassium, feeding spleen treats can help improve their energy and prevent further muscle loss.
Your ailing pet will begin to feel like their old self again!

PET | TAO Beef Spleen Treats are single-ingredient treats for dogs and cats. Each treat contains only freeze-dried beef spleen with no added fillers, flavors, or preservatives. Serve them as a snack, training reward, or reconstituted as a food topper.
In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, the Spleen belongs to the Earth Element. The Spleen and Stomach meridians govern digestion, nutrient absorption, muscle tone, and overall vitality. The Earth Element also governs the emotions of worry and overthinking, so beef spleen treats support both physical digestive health and emotional balance.
These treats may be especially helpful for senior pets, pets with digestive sensitivities, or those experiencing weight loss, muscle atrophy, or low energy. They may also support pets with anxious or worried temperaments. Treats should not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
For best results, follow these daily feeding guidelines:
Treat sizes may vary. Adjust the amount based on your pet's size, diet, and calorie needs.

Would you please assist me in calculating calories for a quarter cup of the freeze dried Pet Tao Beed Spleen?
Thank you for your question! The calories are measured by weight, and there are 92 kcal/oz. There are 3 oz in a bag of Spleen treats. There are roughly 2 cups in a bag of Spleen trreats (this is a volume measurement, so it can vary depending on the size of the pieces). So, 1/4 cup is roughly 34.5 kcal. Thank you for supporting Chinese Medicine and Food Therapy!
What is your method of killing pathogens and bacteria prior to freeze drying?
Thank you for your question! Before freeze drying, PET | TAO doesn't do anything to kill backteria. After freeze drying, the result is a product that has so little moisture that bacteria and pathogens cannot proliferate. The products are tested after each batch for certain bacteria and counts. Here's a blog post PET | TAO wrote about their process:https://pettao.com/freeze-dried-pet-treats/

My 13.5 yr old Boston Terrier (M Neutered) was diagnosed with possible hemangiosarcoma after an abdominal ultra-sound and CT scan. 3 cm in spleen and metastasis to his liver. They gave us days... 3 1/2 weeks later he is doing great. He is taking a stasis breaker, Wei Qi, Mushroom Concentrate, Yunnan Baiyao, Tranexamic Acid & Gabapentin. Do you think that the spleen treats will be an added benefit? I will do anything to give him more time. He is my soul.
Hi, thank you for your question!
Yes, according to TCVM theory, feeding your dog spleen tonifys and helps restore the spleen meridian. As few as 5-6 daily treats can help our dog feel better.
This article by our founding veterinarian, Dr. Smith, explains splenic hemangiosarcoma. https://pettao.com/hate-dog-spleen-cancer/.
