TCVM Physical Conditions Solution Zing Supports

Solution Zing is formulated specifically for dogs showing signs of Blood deficiency and Qi deficiency. In TCVM, Blood is the body's liquid, nourishing aspect; when Blood is insufficient, the tissues, tendons, organs, skin, and senses it nourishes become dry, weak, and depleted. The formula's blood-building, warming ingredient profile directly addresses this pattern.

  • Blood deficiency: Beef, chicken liver, beef liver, beef heart, spinach, and sardines are all classical Blood-building foods in TCVM; organ meats nourish the organ systems they represent through the "Like Treats Like" principle, while iron-rich greens and omega-3-rich fish support Blood production and quality
  • Cruciate and ligament injuries: In TCVM, the Liver governs the tendons and ligaments; Liver Blood deficiency leads to undernourished, brittle connective tissue prone to injury and slow healing; chicken liver and beef liver directly nourish Liver Blood, supporting tendon strength and recovery
  • Dry skin, cracked paw pads, and coat dullness: The Liver also governs the skin surface and is reflected in the nails and coat; Blood deficiency deprives the skin of nourishment, resulting in dryness, flakiness, cracking, and a dull or thinning coat; blood-building foods restore the nourishing fluid that reaches the skin and hair
  • Premature greying and hair loss: Kidney Jing and Liver Blood together govern hair pigmentation and growth in TCVM; premature greying or diffuse hair loss in younger dogs often signals Blood and Jing deficiency; beef kidney (via the broader organ meat philosophy) and sardines support Kidney Jing, while liver and leafy greens nourish Liver Blood
  • Post-illness, post-surgical, and cancer support: Dogs recovering from illness, spleen removal, or undergoing chemotherapy often present with profound Qi and Blood deficiency as their bodies are depleted by both the disease and the treatment; Zing's concentrated organ meat and protein profile rebuilds Qi and Blood to support recovery and resilience
  • Dry eyes: In TCVM, the eyes are the opening of the Liver; Liver Blood deficiency often manifests as dry eyes, reduced tear production, or visual dullness; nourishing Liver Blood through this formula supports ocular moisture and health

TCVM Emotional Conditions Solution Zing Supports

In TCVM, Blood is the material foundation of the Shen (spirit). When Blood is deficient, the Shen loses its anchor and becomes unsettled, fearful, or emotionally flat. Solution Zing's blood-building formula addresses the constitutional root of several emotional presentations.

  • Nervousness and startling easily: Heart Blood deficiency is a primary TCVM cause of nervous temperament; when Heart Blood is insufficient, the Shen cannot rest securely in the Heart and floats upward, causing dogs to startle at minor sounds or stimuli, pace, or appear generally anxious; beef heart directly nourishes Heart Blood and supports Shen anchoring
  • Insomnia and restlessness at night: Blood deficiency causes the Heart to fail to anchor the Shen at night; dogs may pace, circle, or be unable to settle at bedtime; this is distinct from the Yin deficiency insomnia seen in Chill candidates - Zing addresses the Blood-deficient root rather than the Heat-excess presentation
  • Dullness and emotional flatness: Dogs with significant Blood deficiency may appear mentally dull, unresponsive, or disengaged; in TCVM, the mind (Yi), housed in the Spleen, and the Shen, housed in the Heart, both depend on Blood nourishment to remain alert and emotionally responsive; rebuilding Blood restores mental vitality
  • Trembling and physical-emotional fragility: Liver Blood deficiency causes the tendons and muscles to lose nourishment, leading to trembling or fine muscle tremors; this same Blood deficiency produces an emotionally fragile presentation - dogs who are easily overwhelmed, reactive, or prone to shutting down under mild stress; Liver Blood nourishment through organ meats and greens addresses both dimensions

Western Physical Conditions Solution Zing Supports

From a Western nutritional perspective, Solution Zing delivers one of the most nutrient-dense whole-food profiles in the PET | TAO line, with multiple organ meats, iron-rich leafy greens, and anti-inflammatory omega-3 sources that directly address the physiological correlates of Blood deficiency.

  • Anemia and red blood cell support: Beef liver, chicken liver, and spinach are among the most concentrated dietary sources of heme iron, vitamin B12, folate, and riboflavin - the four nutrients most critical for hemoglobin synthesis and red blood cell production; especially important for dogs recovering from illness, blood loss, or chronic disease
  • Connective tissue and ligament health: Beef heart and beef liver provide CoQ-10, vitamin A, zinc, and copper, which support collagen synthesis and connective tissue integrity; sardines and flaxseed supply anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids that reduce joint and tendon inflammation
  • Skin, coat, and nail health: Flaxseed, sardines, eggs, and chicken liver provide omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, zinc, and vitamin A - the core nutrients for skin barrier integrity, coat quality, and nail strength; particularly beneficial for dogs with dry, flaky, or thinning coats
  • Immune and oncology support: The high B12, selenium, zinc, and antioxidant content from organ meats, broccoli, spinach, and eggs supports immune cell production and function; the formula's nutrient density makes it well-suited for dogs undergoing chemotherapy or cancer treatment whose nutritional needs are elevated
  • Liver health and detoxification: Chicken liver and beef liver supply the nutrients the liver requires to perform its own detoxification functions; broccoli provides sulforaphane, which upregulates Phase II detoxification enzymes; parsley and spinach provide folate and vitamin K to support hepatic metabolism
  • Digestive health and nutrient absorption: Barley beta-glucans support gut microbiome diversity and motility; white potato and green peas provide easily digestible complex carbohydrates and fiber; the high moisture content (78%) supports gut transit and overall hydration

Main Ingredients: Eastern and Western Perspectives

The Philosophy Behind PET | TAO Solution Zing

PET | TAO Solution Zing is built on a foundational principle of TCVM food therapy: Blood is the material basis of life. Where Harmony Beef maintains balance in healthy dogs, and Solution Chill restores it in Heat-excess dogs, Solution Zing actively rebuilds Blood and Qi in dogs whose constitutions have been depleted by illness, chronic deficiency, or the demands of recovery.

The "Like Treats Like" principle of TCVM food therapy is most visible in this formula: chicken liver nourishes the Liver, beef heart nourishes the Heart, and beef liver reinforces Liver Blood - each organ meat working on its corresponding organ system while simultaneously delivering the Western nutrients those organs are richest in. This is not a coincidence; it reflects the deep alignment between ancient TCVM food wisdom and modern nutritional science.

Blood deficiency is one of the most common patterns in dogs with chronic illness, those recovering from surgery or cancer treatment, and aging dogs who have gradually depleted their constitutional reserves. The classic presentation is a dog who seems dull, startles easily, has a dry or thinning coat, cracked paw pads, weak or injured tendons, and struggles to settle emotionally. Solution Zing addresses this pattern at its root - using food to rebuild the Blood that nourishes every tissue, tendon, organ, and sense in the body.

All PET | TAO products are formulated with natural ingredients specifically chosen to support your pet's energetic balance. It is always better to feed for a purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PET | TAO Solution Zing used for?

Solution Zing is a blood-building therapeutic diet for dogs showing signs of Blood and Qi deficiency: dullness or low energy, nervousness or startling easily, insomnia, trembling, dry or thinning coat, cracked paw pads, dry eyes, premature greying, hair loss, cruciate or ligament injuries, or dogs recovering from illness, spleen removal, or cancer treatment. It is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding, and PET | TAO founding veterinarians often recommend it long-term alongside PET | TAO Daily Vitamins.

How does Solution Zing support Blood deficiency from a TCVM perspective?

In TCVM, Blood nourishes the tendons, skin, eyes, coat, organs, and the Shen (spirit). When Blood is deficient, every tissue it nourishes becomes dry, weak, or undernourished. Solution Zing uses the "Like Treats Like" principle - chicken liver and beef liver to nourish Liver Blood and tendon health, beef heart to anchor the Shen and support Heart Blood - alongside iron-rich greens (spinach, turnip greens) and omega-3-rich sardines and flaxseed to rebuild Blood quality and quantity from multiple angles simultaneously.

Can Solution Zing be used long-term?

Solution Zing carries an AAFCO intermittent or supplemental feeding designation, meaning it is not formulated as a complete standalone diet. However, PET | TAO founding veterinarians routinely recommend it long-term for Blood-deficient patients when combined with PET | TAO Daily Vitamins to fill any nutritional gaps. Always work with your veterinarian to determine the appropriate feeding protocol for your dog's specific needs.

How is Solution Zing different from the other PET | TAO canned formulas?

Each PET | TAO canned formula targets a distinct TCVM pattern. Harmony Beef uses energetically neutral ingredients to maintain balance in healthy dogs. Solution Chill uses cooling ingredients to address Yin deficiency and excess Heat. Solution Zing uses warming, blood-building ingredients - particularly multiple organ meats and iron-rich greens - to actively rebuild Qi and Blood in depleted or deficient dogs. The right formula depends on your dog's TCVM pattern; your TCVM-trained veterinarian can help you choose the best fit.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Can I get the dmb percentage of zing...

Thank you for your question! PET | TAO Zing has 22% Dry Matter in the can (100% total - 78% moisture).

The Dry Matter percentage can be found by dividing each as fed nutrient percentage on the label by the percentage of dry matter in the can and then multiplying by 100.

    Protein: (10% / 22%) x 100  = 45% Protein on a Dry Matter basis
    Fat: (6% / 22%) x 100 = 27% Fat on a Dry Matter basis
    Fiber: (1% / 22%) x 100 = 4.5% Fiber on a Dry Matter basis

  • Is there any way to buy a few cans to try first...my Maltipoo has a sensitive tummy and is very picky Is this a paté food

Thank you for your question! We can only sell this item in cases of 12. Fortunately, we very rarely have returns because the dog won't eat the food. This food is a pate. However, it's possible some dogs may not eat the product. We offer a 100% guarantee on all PET | TAO products. You can view our refund policy here in case your dog doesn't enjoy the Zing formula. • My dog suffers from cancer and moderate kidney disease. She has just recently become "picky" about what she will eat, however, she still has a strong appetite. Which of your formulas might work best for these issues?

Thank you for your question! We're sorry your dog suffers from cancer. One of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine is Eastern Food Therapy. A common tenet of Eastern Food Therapy is a Blood-building diet can support dogs with cancer. We recommend Zing for dogs with cancer, and usually they enjoy the flavor! If your dog doesn't like Zing, we accept returns, and you can view our refund policy here. Other products we carry that support dogs with cancer are Complement Immune, Max's Formula, Stasis Breaker, and Liver Treats. Also, we have a free ebook about dog cancer you can download here. It was written by PET | TAO's vets. We hope you enjoy it, and please let us know if you have any questions.

  • So, my dog is 105#. Does that mean he is supposed to have 7 cans of food/day?! That's nearly $30/day?! It doesn't seem right. What am I missing?

Thank you for your question! The recommend daily feeding amount of PET | TAO canned formulas is one can for each 15lbs of your dog's weight. However, that's just an estimate. Some dogs will eat less than the recommend amount depending on their age, activity level, and whether or not they are spayed or neutered. It is possible your dog won't need 7 cans to maintain his weight. Another option that may cost less than buying the canned food is making the formula yourself in a crock pot. • hello, am i able to give your canned formulas and / or freeze-dried formulas to my cat in appropriate amounts? i have been searching for an energetically sound and species-appropriate food for her for over a decade and i am so happy to have found your organ treats which she loves, so am very much hoping the foods would be ok for her also. thanks so much

Thank you for your question, and we are so glad your kitty likes PET | TAO's 5-Element Theory freeze-dried organ treats! PET | TAO's dog foods aren't formulated for the nutrient needs of cats, so we don't recommend feeding them to cats. A tiny bit as a treat won't hurt, but they aren't sufficient to meet the nutrient needs of cats. Unfortunately, PET | TAO discontinued their cat food awhile back due to lack of sales. But, we have a solution for you, if you have the time to take it on! PET | TAO created home-cooked recipes for cats on their blog. These recipes are homecooked versions of the commercial cat products they used to offer, and there are additional recipes as well (feline versions of the PET | TAO dog recipes).
