PET | TAO Harmony Limited Ingredient Canned Formula is a veterinarian-formulated wet dog food built for dogs who need simplicity without sacrifice. AAFCO Statement

Harmony Limited Ingredient is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance.

TCVM Physical Conditions Harmony Limited Ingredient Supports

Harmony Limited Ingredient is formulated for dogs whose physical conditions stem from one or more of three overlapping TCVM patterns: Spleen Qi deficiency impairing digestion and nutrient transformation, Damp-Heat or Heat accumulation driving inflammatory and allergic responses, and Liver Qi stagnation contributing to immune dysregulation and skin reactivity. The formula's cooling, single-protein, short-ingredient approach directly addresses all three patterns simultaneously.

  • Food sensitivities and allergic skin reactions: In TCVM, allergic responses are often associated with Damp-Heat in the skin and Spleen Qi deficiency that allows pathogenic factors to penetrate; a single novel protein eliminates the antigenic load on the immune system while cooling vegetables (celery, broccoli, spinach) clear Damp-Heat from the skin and Stomach meridians; turkey nourishes Spleen Qi without adding Heat
  • Chronic itching, hot spots, and skin inflammation: Excess Heat in the Blood and skin is a common TCVM pattern in dogs with chronic allergic dermatitis; the energetically cooling ingredient profile of this formula directly addresses Blood Heat and skin-level Heat accumulation, reducing the inflammatory burden that drives itching and skin reactivity
  • Digestive sensitivity and poor nutrient absorption: Spleen Qi deficiency is the root of most chronic digestive disorders in TCVM; when Spleen Qi is weak, food fails to transform properly, leading to loose stools, bloating, and poor nutrient absorption; turkey is the primary Spleen Qi tonic in this formula, while the limited ingredient list reduces the digestive burden and the risk of triggering Spleen-weakening food reactions
  • Inflammatory bowel patterns and Damp accumulation: Chronic gut inflammation in TCVM is often categorized as Damp-Heat in the Large Intestine or Spleen; the cooling, low-allergen ingredients in this formula clear Damp-Heat from the digestive tract while supporting the Spleen's capacity to transform and transport fluids, reducing the internal Dampness that feeds inflammatory bowel patterns
  • Liver Qi stagnation contributing to immune reactivity: In TCVM, the Liver governs the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body; when Liver Qi stagnates, it generates Heat that can spill into the Stomach and skin, contributing to allergic reactivity and immune dysregulation; carrots benefit the Liver meridian and support Qi circulation, while the formula's cooling thermal nature reduces the Heat generated by stagnation
  • Respiratory allergies and Lung Heat: The Lung governs the skin, and the Wei Qi (defensive Qi) in TCVM; Lung Heat or Lung Qi deficiency often presents alongside skin and respiratory allergy symptoms; broccoli benefits the Lung meridian and clears Heat from the Upper Jiao, while the formula's cooling profile reduces the excess Heat driving respiratory reactivity

TCVM Emotional Conditions Harmony Limited Ingredient Supports

In TCVM, chronic physical imbalances such as Damp-Heat and Spleen Qi deficiency have direct emotional correlates. Dogs with chronic allergies, gut dysfunction, or systemic Heat often present with emotional patterns rooted in the same underlying energetic disharmony. Harmony Limited Ingredient addresses both the physical and emotional dimensions of these patterns through its cooling, Spleen-supporting formula.

  • Irritability and agitation from Heat accumulation: Excess Heat in the body does not stay in the physical tissues alone; it rises to disturb the Shen (spirit), producing irritability, agitation, difficulty settling, and increased reactivity to stimuli. Dogs with chronic Damp-Heat patterns often appear edgy, easily triggered, or difficult to calm; the cooling formula directly reduces the Interior Heat that harasses the Shen
  • Anxiety and emotional instability from Spleen Qi deficiency: In TCVM, the Spleen houses the Yi (intellect and intention) and is the root of post-natal Qi production; when Spleen Qi is deficient, the Yi becomes scattered and unfocused, contributing to general anxiety, overthinking, and difficulty adapting to change; nourishing Spleen Qi through turkey and easily digestible foods supports the Yi and reduces the anxiety associated with constitutional Spleen weakness
  • Restlessness from chronic discomfort: Dogs with unresolved skin, gut, or inflammatory conditions are chronically uncomfortable; in TCVM, unresolved physical discomfort generates Qi stagnation and Heat that further disturbs the Shen; addressing the underlying physical pattern with a targeted limited ingredient diet reduces the energetic burden on the Shen and supports a calmer emotional baseline
  • Low energy and apathy from nutritional depletion: Dogs with chronic food sensitivities often absorb nutrients poorly over time, gradually depleting their Qi and Blood reserves; the resulting pattern is one of quiet lethargy, reduced engagement, and low vitality; by resolving the digestive sensitivity at its root and restoring Spleen function, this formula supports the gradual rebuilding of Qi and the return of energetic engagement

Western Physical Conditions Harmony Limited Ingredient Supports

From a Western nutritional perspective, Harmony Limited Ingredient is designed as a true limited-antigen diet: a single novel protein source, a short, carefully chosen vegetable list, and no common allergens such as beef, chicken, corn, wheat, or soy. This approach directly reduces the immune system's antigenic load while delivering a complete, balanced nutrient profile for adult maintenance.

  • Food allergy elimination and novel protein protocols: Turkey is a less commonly fed protein in conventional dog food, making it a genuinely novel antigen for many dogs; limiting the protein source to a single novel protein reduces the number of potential triggers for IgE-mediated and non-IgE-mediated food hypersensitivity reactions, which is the foundation of elimination diet protocols in veterinary dermatology and gastroenterology
  • Inflammatory skin disease and allergic dermatitis: Dietary antigens are a primary driver of allergic skin disease in dogs; reducing antigenic complexity while increasing anti-inflammatory nutrient density (flaxseed omega-3s, broccoli sulforaphane, spinach antioxidants) supports the skin's immune barrier and reduces the systemic inflammatory burden driving dermatitis
  • Irritable bowel and chronic gastrointestinal sensitivity: The limited ingredient formulation reduces the number of potential dietary triggers for gut-level immune reactions; the high moisture content (78%) supports gut motility and hydration; the fiber profile from multiple vegetables supports microbiome diversity and digestive regularity without the common irritants found in complex formulas
  • Immune system support: Turkey provides selenium, zinc, and B vitamins that support immune cell production and function; broccoli, spinach, and carrots contribute vitamin C, beta-carotene, vitamin K, and sulforaphane for antioxidant defense and immune modulation; the formula supports a regulated immune response rather than an overactive one
  • Weight management and lean body composition: Turkey is a lean, low-fat complete protein; the formula's lower caloric density (412 kcal/can vs. 500+ kcal in organ-heavy formulas) makes it well-suited for dogs that need to maintain or reduce body weight while on an elimination diet; green beans and celery add fiber-rich bulk with minimal caloric contribution
  • Respiratory and environmental allergy support: Flaxseed provides ALA omega-3 fatty acids that reduce systemic and airway inflammation; broccoli's sulforaphane supports the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway, which plays a role in reducing oxidative stress in the respiratory epithelium; reducing dietary antigenic load often reduces the overall immune system burden, improving tolerance to environmental allergens

Main Ingredients: Eastern and Western Perspectives

We selected each ingredient in Harmony Limited Ingredient for its low allergenic potential and its targeted Eastern and Western benefits.

  • Turkey: Energetically cooling; nourishes Spleen and Stomach Qi; the sole protein source, chosen for both its cooling thermal nature and its novel antigen status. Lean, complete protein with selenium, niacin, B6, and B12 for immune function, energy metabolism, and muscle maintenance; less commonly allergenic than beef or chicken
  • Carrots: Energetically neutral; benefits the Liver and Lung meridians; supports Qi circulation and helps resolve Liver Qi stagnation that contributes to immune reactivity. Rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and fiber for vision, immune support, and digestive health
  • Celery: Energetically cooling; benefits the Stomach and Bladder meridians; clears Heat from the Middle Jiao, supports detoxification, and reduces inflammation. Natural source of vitamin K, potassium, and apigenin for cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory support; promotes urination to flush Heat and Dampness
  • Green Beans: Energetically neutral; supports the Spleen and Kidney meridians; aids fluid metabolism and eliminates Dampness from the digestive tract. High in fiber and low in calories; supports digestive regularity, satiety, and healthy weight management
  • Broccoli: Energetically cooling; clears Heat from the Liver and Lung meridians; supports detoxification and benefits dogs with Heat-driven inflammatory and allergic conditions. Rich in sulforaphane, vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate for immune support, Phase II liver detoxification, and antioxidant defense
  • Spinach: Energetically cooling; nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin and Blood; clears Heat and detoxifies; one of the most valuable cooling, Blood-nourishing greens in TCVM food therapy. Rich in non-heme iron, folate, lutein, vitamin K, and magnesium for red blood cell support, bone health, and antioxidant defense
  • Flaxseed: Energetically cooling; nourishes Yin and moistens dryness; supports Kidney Yin and is particularly useful for dogs with dry, reactive skin alongside sensitivity patterns. Rich in ALA omega-3 fatty acids, lignans, and fiber for anti-inflammatory support, skin barrier integrity, and digestive health
  • Sesame Oil: Energetically neutral to slightly cooling; nourishes Yin and moistens dryness; benefits the Liver and Kidney; traditionally used to address Blood and Yin deficiency with dryness. Rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids, vitamin E, and sesamin (a lignan antioxidant) for skin, coat, and anti-inflammatory support
  • Honey: Energetically neutral to slightly cooling; nourishes Yin, moistens dryness, tonifies Spleen and Lung, and harmonizes the formula. Natural source of antimicrobial compounds, trace antioxidant polyphenols, and prebiotic oligosaccharides

The Philosophy Behind PET | TAO Harmony Limited Ingredient

PET | TAO Harmony Limited Ingredient occupies a unique position in the PET | TAO canned line. Where Harmony Beef uses a neutral multi-protein formula to maintain balance in healthy dogs, and Solution Chill uses cooling ingredients to restore balance in Yin-deficient, Heat-excess dogs, Harmony Limited Ingredient uses the same cooling thermal strategy with maximum ingredient simplicity - one protein, one short vegetable list, no common allergens - to achieve balance in dogs whose immune systems have been overburdened by dietary complexity.

In TCVM food therapy, the goal is not simply to remove offending foods but to actively restore the organ systems most compromised by the allergic or sensitivity pattern: the Spleen (root of Qi production and immune regulation), the Liver (governing the smooth flow of Qi and immune response), and the skin (governed by the Lung and nourished by Blood). We chose every ingredient in this formula to support at least one of these systems while minimizing the risk of adding to the dietary burden that created the imbalance in the first place.

Western nutritional science reinforces this approach: elimination diets built around single novel proteins are the gold standard intervention for diagnosing and managing food hypersensitivity in dogs. By combining the simplicity of a limited antigen diet with the targeted organ support of TCVM food therapy, Harmony Limited Ingredient offers something neither approach can deliver alone. It is always better to feed for a purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Harmony Limited Ingredient different from the other PET | TAO canned formulas?

Harmony Limited Ingredient is the only PET | TAO canned formula designed specifically as a limited antigen diet - one novel protein (turkey), a short vegetable list, and no common allergens such as beef, chicken, corn, wheat, or soy. It is AAFCO-approved for adult maintenance, making it suitable as a primary diet rather than supplemental feeding only. It shares the cooling energetic profile of Solution Chill but is formulated for dogs whose primary need is dietary simplicity and immune system relief rather than Yin deficiency management.

Which dogs benefit most from Harmony Limited Ingredient?

This formula is ideal for dogs with food allergies or sensitivities, chronic itching, hot spots, or skin inflammation, irritable bowel or digestive sensitivity, or dogs who have failed to thrive on complex multi-protein formulas. It is also well-suited for Yin-deficient or Heat-excess dogs who need a cooling diet but still require the simplicity of a limited-ingredient approach. Dogs whose TCVM pattern involves Spleen Qi deficiency, Damp-Heat, or Liver Qi stagnation are particularly strong candidates.

Why is turkey the only protein in this formula?

We chose turkey for two complementary reasons. From a Western perspective, it is a genuinely novel protein for most dogs - less commonly fed than beef or chicken, making it a lower-risk choice for elimination diet protocols targeting food hypersensitivity. From a TCVM perspective, turkey is energetically cooling and nourishes Spleen and Stomach Qi without adding Heat, making it the ideal single protein for dogs whose sensitivity pattern involves Damp-Heat or Spleen Qi deficiency. Using a single protein also eliminates diagnostic ambiguity when identifying food triggers.

Can Harmony Limited Ingredient be used as my dog's primary diet?

Yes. Unlike Solution Chill and Solution Zing, which carry an AAFCO intermittent or supplemental feeding designation, Harmony Limited Ingredient meets AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance and can be used as a primary diet for adult dogs. It is an appropriate long-term choice for dogs with food sensitivities, dogs on elimination diet protocols, or any dog whose health and temperament thrive on a cleaner, more intentional single-protein diet. Always consult your veterinarian when making significant dietary changes.

  • Do you ship to Alaska.

Hi there, Judith! Yes, we can ship to Alaska! However, we are unable to provide free shipping with a $99 purchase to Alaska.

  • Hi, The Harmony canned food has 412 kcal/can and suggested amount per day for my dogs weight (45#) is 3 cans. The freeze dried Harmony food has 219 kcal/cup and the suggested feeding amount is 2 2/3 cup to 3 cups a day. 1236 kcal (412 x 3) vs. 657 kcal (219 x 3) is a big calorie difference. Do I need to feed more of the freeze dried than what's listed for a complete meal? Thanks!!

    Thank you for your question!

There is a wide range in calorie recommendations for dogs: 1x Resting Energy Rate (RER) up to 2xRER. Part of the reason for the variance on the Freeze Dried food recommendation is there is air in each cup of food (between the nuggets). There isn't air when measuring calories in a cup of wet food. We recommend starting by feeding within the range on the label and adjusting as needed (by monitoring your dog's weight and body condition). The amount of food a dog needs is based on individual characteristics such as age, activity, whether they are spayed/neutered, etc.
