Harmony Limited Ingredient is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance.
Harmony Limited Ingredient is formulated for dogs whose physical conditions stem from one or more of three overlapping TCVM patterns: Spleen Qi deficiency impairing digestion and nutrient transformation, Damp-Heat or Heat accumulation driving inflammatory and allergic responses, and Liver Qi stagnation contributing to immune dysregulation and skin reactivity. The formula's cooling, single-protein, short-ingredient approach directly addresses all three patterns simultaneously.
In TCVM, chronic physical imbalances such as Damp-Heat and Spleen Qi deficiency have direct emotional correlates. Dogs with chronic allergies, gut dysfunction, or systemic Heat often present with emotional patterns rooted in the same underlying energetic disharmony. Harmony Limited Ingredient addresses both the physical and emotional dimensions of these patterns through its cooling, Spleen-supporting formula.
From a Western nutritional perspective, Harmony Limited Ingredient is designed as a true limited-antigen diet: a single novel protein source, a short, carefully chosen vegetable list, and no common allergens such as beef, chicken, corn, wheat, or soy. This approach directly reduces the immune system's antigenic load while delivering a complete, balanced nutrient profile for adult maintenance.
We selected each ingredient in Harmony Limited Ingredient for its low allergenic potential and its targeted Eastern and Western benefits.
PET | TAO Harmony Limited Ingredient occupies a unique position in the PET | TAO canned line. Where Harmony Beef uses a neutral multi-protein formula to maintain balance in healthy dogs, and Solution Chill uses cooling ingredients to restore balance in Yin-deficient, Heat-excess dogs, Harmony Limited Ingredient uses the same cooling thermal strategy with maximum ingredient simplicity - one protein, one short vegetable list, no common allergens - to achieve balance in dogs whose immune systems have been overburdened by dietary complexity.
In TCVM food therapy, the goal is not simply to remove offending foods but to actively restore the organ systems most compromised by the allergic or sensitivity pattern: the Spleen (root of Qi production and immune regulation), the Liver (governing the smooth flow of Qi and immune response), and the skin (governed by the Lung and nourished by Blood). We chose every ingredient in this formula to support at least one of these systems while minimizing the risk of adding to the dietary burden that created the imbalance in the first place.
Western nutritional science reinforces this approach: elimination diets built around single novel proteins are the gold standard intervention for diagnosing and managing food hypersensitivity in dogs. By combining the simplicity of a limited antigen diet with the targeted organ support of TCVM food therapy, Harmony Limited Ingredient offers something neither approach can deliver alone. It is always better to feed for a purpose.
Harmony Limited Ingredient is the only PET | TAO canned formula designed specifically as a limited antigen diet - one novel protein (turkey), a short vegetable list, and no common allergens such as beef, chicken, corn, wheat, or soy. It is AAFCO-approved for adult maintenance, making it suitable as a primary diet rather than supplemental feeding only. It shares the cooling energetic profile of Solution Chill but is formulated for dogs whose primary need is dietary simplicity and immune system relief rather than Yin deficiency management.
This formula is ideal for dogs with food allergies or sensitivities, chronic itching, hot spots, or skin inflammation, irritable bowel or digestive sensitivity, or dogs who have failed to thrive on complex multi-protein formulas. It is also well-suited for Yin-deficient or Heat-excess dogs who need a cooling diet but still require the simplicity of a limited-ingredient approach. Dogs whose TCVM pattern involves Spleen Qi deficiency, Damp-Heat, or Liver Qi stagnation are particularly strong candidates.
We chose turkey for two complementary reasons. From a Western perspective, it is a genuinely novel protein for most dogs - less commonly fed than beef or chicken, making it a lower-risk choice for elimination diet protocols targeting food hypersensitivity. From a TCVM perspective, turkey is energetically cooling and nourishes Spleen and Stomach Qi without adding Heat, making it the ideal single protein for dogs whose sensitivity pattern involves Damp-Heat or Spleen Qi deficiency. Using a single protein also eliminates diagnostic ambiguity when identifying food triggers.
Yes. Unlike Solution Chill and Solution Zing, which carry an AAFCO intermittent or supplemental feeding designation, Harmony Limited Ingredient meets AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance and can be used as a primary diet for adult dogs. It is an appropriate long-term choice for dogs with food sensitivities, dogs on elimination diet protocols, or any dog whose health and temperament thrive on a cleaner, more intentional single-protein diet. Always consult your veterinarian when making significant dietary changes.

Are all the Pet Tao formulas considered a full diet or a supplement! I am feeding my Dog Chill but I think I need to try the Harmony Limited Ingredient as my Dog has horrible allergies. Any other suggestions for allergies?
Thank you for your question! Our vets have not experienced issues feeding all 4 PET | TAO canned formulas as full diets, but since two of them haven't been AAFCO approved for all life stages, those are labeled for intermittent/supplemental feeding only (this applies to Zing and Chill). For peace of mind, you can add a Daily Vitamin to these two diets. Limited Ingredient Harmony and Beef Harmony are full diets for all life stages. Limited Ingredient Harmony along with Complement Immune is a great combination for dogs with allergies. Do you ship to Alaska.
Hi there, Judith! Yes, we can ship to Alaska! However, we are unable to provide free shipping with a $99 purchase to Alaska.
Hi, The Harmony canned food has 412 kcal/can and suggested amount per day for my dogs weight (45#) is 3 cans. The freeze dried Harmony food has 219 kcal/cup and the suggested feeding amount is 2 2/3 cup to 3 cups a day. 1236 kcal (412 x 3) vs. 657 kcal (219 x 3) is a big calorie difference. Do I need to feed more of the freeze dried than what's listed for a complete meal? Thanks!!
Thank you for your question!
There is a wide range in calorie recommendations for dogs: 1x Resting Energy Rate (RER) up to 2xRER. Part of the reason for the variance on the Freeze Dried food recommendation is there is air in each cup of food (between the nuggets). There isn't air when measuring calories in a cup of wet food. We recommend starting by feeding within the range on the label and adjusting as needed (by monitoring your dog's weight and body condition). The amount of food a dog needs is based on individual characteristics such as age, activity, whether they are spayed/neutered, etc.
