If a cat suffers from anxiety, can swapping beef heart treats in place of a different treat be a simple way to aid in anxiety relief? I do give Shen Calmer when conditions warrant. But could something as a simple food switch help her stay on an even daily balance?

You are correct! PET | TAO veterinarians find that providing small amounts of beef heart to cats and dogs help with a number of conditions controlled by the heart in Chinese Medicine. These conditions include heartworm disease, behavioral disorders, and cardiac disorders. Giving these small; pieces of organs as treats is part of food therapy, which is one of the 5 branches of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Food therapy works well in conjunction with other branches of Chinese Medicine, such as herbs and acupuncture. Food therapy can also be used when making changes to the diet. Usually, a cooling diet helps support cats with Yin Deficiencies. Check with your TCVM vet to see if your cat with anxiety has a Yin Deficiency.
