QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Does the Jing Tang Max formula really help with removing nodules? My cat has GI nodules and im so unsure of using this stuff on her.

Thank you for your question! I'm sorry to hear your cat is dealing with nodules.

Our vets, Dr. Smith and Dr. Damron, have much success when using Max's Formula (sometimes in combination with Stasis Breaker) to aid in shrinking tumors!

You need a veterinarian's authorization to purchase TCVM herbs. Are you already working with a TCVM veterinarian? If so, just fill out this form and we will contact your vet for the authorization: https://tcvmpet.com/pages/get-an-authorization.

If you are not currently working with a TCVM vet, please understand the best way to choose the most appropriate TCVM herb is via a TCVM exam or telemedicine consultation. TCVM diagnosing is different than standard Western veterinary medicine.

The optimum choice is an in-person TCVM telemedicine consultation. To locate a TCVM vet in your area, just go to https://store.tcvmherbal.com and enter your zip code in the green sidebar at the left of the screen. That will pull up a list of TCVM vets closest to you.

The next best option is a telemedicine consultation. If you get a TCVM telemedicine consultation with one of our vets ($110), you'll get personalized TCVM recommendations specific to your pet, including:

    TCVM Authorization
    Food Therapy Recommendations
    TCVM Herb Recommendations
    Supplement Recommendations

There is one more option! Your current veterinarian, even if not TCVM-trained, can authorize the herbs. If you want to use this method, check with your vet to see if they're open to authorizing herbs. If they are and need help choosing the right formula, just ask them to contact our vets at www.whiteoakvet.com or www.franklintnvet.com. This help is free for your vet. Then, you may fill out the form here. Then, TCVM Pet Supply will send your vet a link to provide their approval.

Also, here's some more info on Max's formula

  • My local vet will approve prescription for "Max's Formula" but wasn't aware of it. How do I know whether to get pill or powder...is either more effective? The powder comes in powder with 90g and 200g; can't seem to find out if that is quantity or concentration. I just want to order some asap.

Hi Mickey, the powders are just a little more effective than the pills. The reason is the body has to digest the pill casing before getting to the herbs. However, many people find it's easier to get their dog to take pills than eat powder mixed in food. For the 90g vs. the 200g, the 90g is concentrated, stronger, so you need to give less for the same effect as the 200g. 90g and 200g are also the total volumes of the powdered herb in each container. I hope this information helps you!

  • My 12 year old schnauzer has a mass on her liver & msss on her adrenal gland. She is too old for surgery. What is the best Jing Tang herbs for her.

Thank you for your question! If your dogs masses are due to cancer, Eastern Food Therapy and TCVM herbs can support your dog’s health. We recommend Zing canned dog food, liver treats, and Complement Immune supplement.

Here are some blog posts we wrote about Complement Immune: https://pettao.com/?s=complement+immune

We also have a free ebook written by our vets about dog cancer here: https://tcvmpet.com/collections/free-downloads/products/dog-cancer-ebook?variant=31345884069958

Also, Max’s Formula and Stasis Breaker are often used together for cancer (vet authorization required). You can learn more about them here:

  • This is good for swelling lymphatic ganglios

Thank you for your question! If your pet's swollen lymph nodes are due to cancer, this product could support your pet. However, if they are due to another condition, this may not be the best product for your pet's condition. To learn more about Max's Formula, check out this blog post. We recommend checking with your TCVM vet to see which product is best for your pet. Your vet knows your pet's condition and TCVM constitution better than anyone else! If you have a veterinarian that will authorize your purchase, you can request authorization here: https://tcvmpet.com/pages/get-an-authorization

  • Why do I need a prescription from the Vet?

Thanks for writing. The manufacturer, Jing Tang, requires us to keep a veterinary authorization on file for all Jing Tang Herbal product orders.

This is a great way to make sure our customers are purching the correct herb. There are hundreds of Chinese herbal formulas, and while many of them may help your pet, there is always one specific formula and specific dose that is best for your pet. Or, there is a combination of formulas that will help your pet the most. It's up to a veterinarian to determine this combination based on their training. Without this TCVM training, the incorrect herb or combination is often chosen.

Here is the list provided by Jing Tang of their vets (most TCVM vets went to the Chi Institute and use Jing Tang herbs) if you want to search further: https://store.tcvmherbal.com/Default.asp?

Maybe the list can help you find a TCVM vet in your area. If not, let us know and we can schedule a consultation for you with one of our vets.

If you have any other questions or if we can help you in any way, just let us know!

  • This med is almost double the price that from my vet any discount?

Thank you for your question! Although we sometimes offer coupons, we aren't currently running a special on the Jing Tang herbs. However, our free shipping is always available with a $99 purchase, so that could apply to you. When we do run specials, the discounts aren't high enough to discount it by 50%, so to save money, I would recommend purchasing this formula from your vet. Another option you could look into is purchasing a different form of the herb. The non-concentrated forms of Max's formula are usually less expensive than the concentrated versions.

  • My dog has spleen cancer( hemangiosarcoma), which would be better to use, the western stasis breaker or eastern?

Hi! Thank you for your email!

There are several TCVM herbs to help dogs with spleen cancer, but a TCVM vet would need to help you choose the right formula or combination of herbal formulas based on your dog's varied symptoms and the formula that will be most effective for your dog's health situation and case, also to help fully resolve the issue properly through TCVM. However, good examples are Stasis Breaker, Max’s Formula and Wei Qi Booster.

How to Order Chinese Herbal Medicine for Animals

Thank you for supporting Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine!

  • on the bottle it says for dogs and cats but then says FOR CATS one a day. And never says what to give dogs? Very odd packaging. How many capsules should i give my 65 pound dog.

Hi, thank you for your question!

Per the manufacturer, Jing Tang, standard dosing is One 0.5g capsule per 20 to 40 lb of body weight twice daily for dogs and cats.

However, we recommend you contact your vet since dosing and duration depend on the weight of the animal and its condition.

Amazing

My dog, Benny, has been using this for 2 months now. He has two types of cancer and is elderly with arthritis and vestibular syndrome, so we didn't want to put him through surgery and chemo. We have been treating with Max's Formula & prednisone. His tumors on his paws have shrunk and his thyroid tumor has not grown. We have gotten more time with our dog. We are so grateful.
