QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I got Jing Tang Liver Happy (my vet ordered it for us) but it came looking completely different this time. It is usually the color and consistency of coffee, this time it is a very light tan powder. I am afraid to give it. The vet said this variation is normal, I guess I'm just looking for reassurance.

Thank you for your question and for your support of Chinese Medicine!

This color variability is normal. We purchase our herbs from Jing Tang (the manufacturer of the herbs) and I asked them the same question.

Here is some more information from Jing Tang:

We use several different companies for the manufacturing of our concentrated formulas.
There are 2 national and international standardized methods these companies use to make concentrated granules:
Drying Method (DM) and Wetting Method (WM). Even though the herbal effects are the same using DM or WM, the color and smell of the granules might be different due to their different processing methods.

There are three steps for both DM and WM:
    1) water extraction
    2) filtration and concentration;
    3) granular processing.

The first step, water extraction, is the same for both DM and WM, while their second and third steps are different.
The following are highlights of the differences that impact the granular color and smell:
    1. The WM is mainly used with a series of gradient alcohol extracts, while no alcohol is used for DM during the filtration and concentration step, which make smell and color different.
    2. Differences of granular processing times and pressure magnitude between the DM and WM during the granular processing make the color different
This accounts for the difference in color, smell and consistency of the powder.

  • My dog (3.6kg) have a gallbladder mucocele. I heard that this disease makes liver (ALT etc) dysfunction so i got a recommendation of Liver Happy. The dose was 0.3g X2 = 0.6g for one day. I am curious of this ingredient, because i heard some of this types of herbal medicines are not really good at liver. Can you give me more information about the ingredient of this medicine? Also, i want to know whether is medicine makes liver good!

    Thank you for your question!

  • wondering if your liver happy has milk thistle as one of the ingredients .If not can we supplement Milk Thistle along with Liver Happy

    Thanks for your question!

Jing Liver Happy doesn't have milk thistle since it is a western herb. However we recommend use milk thistle or our PET | TAO Harmonize Liver Supplement along with Jing Tang Liver happy and PET | TAO Freeze Dried Beef Liver.
