Each herb in Spleen Support Formula is selected for its specific role within the TCVM framework. Their combined actions tonify Spleen Qi and Yang, dry and drain Dampness, and warm the Middle Burner to address deficiency and Damp accumulation.
Spleen Support Formula contains several potent Chinese herbs, including warming Yang-tonifying herbs and Damp-drying herbs with known effects on digestive and urinary function. Because herb-drug interaction research in dogs and cats is limited, pets taking prescription medications should use this formula under veterinary supervision. Use with caution during pregnancy and avoid in animals with symptoms of Heat.
Extra caution may be appropriate for pets receiving diuretics, gastrointestinal medications, corticosteroids, or multiple prescription medications. Your veterinarian can determine whether Spleen Support Formula is appropriate based on your pet's condition, medications, and laboratory results.

In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, Spleen Support Formula (Wei Ling Tang) is traditionally used to tonify Spleen Qi and Yang and dry and drain Dampness. It is indicated for patterns of Spleen Qi and Yang deficiency with Damp accumulation, commonly used to support digestive health, energy, urinary function, and cold sensitivity in dogs, cats, and horses.
Spleen Support Formula is available in liquid extract (1 oz, 4 oz, or 8 oz) or 500mg tablets (60, 120, or 300 count). Liquid can be mixed into food or administered directly; tablets can be given directly or hidden in food. Dosing varies by species and body weight - your authorizing veterinarian will provide specific guidance.
Results vary by individual and the severity of the pattern. Some animals may show improvement in digestive comfort and energy relatively quickly, while those with more chronic or established Spleen deficiency and Damp accumulation patterns may require several weeks of consistent use. Your authorizing veterinarian can help set appropriate expectations based on your pet's TCVM diagnosis.
Always consult your veterinarian before combining Spleen Support Formula with other medications or supplements. Your authorizing veterinarian will monitor for potential interactions through routine lab work and diagnostic testing. Key interactions to discuss include diuretics, gastrointestinal medications, and corticosteroids. See the Potential Drug Interactions section above for details.
My vet gave me Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Wan,. My cat is 1 point above normal value for T4 and have potential digestive issues, salivates. My other cat has full blown IBD with serious absorption issues and is now on prednisilone( he goes to a regular vet). I mentioned Wei Ling Tang to both and they were not familiar they were trained in Fl with Dr Xie. They are both very highly respected vets. I have read that the Wei Ling Tang really works for thyroid and is good to rebuild digestive wall. Is Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Wan just as effective?
Thank you for your question! I'm sorry to hear your cats are dealing with digestive issues, but I am glad you're looking into alternatives to help them feel better. Our veterinarians are not familiar with Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Wan, but they looked it up and since it has similar actions and Chinese indications as Wei Ling Tang, they suspect it would have a comparable effect. However, we can't say for sure since we don't carry that product yet or use it in our clinics. However, we're always looking for new products to carry and try out, and we've passed the name of that formula to our product development and testing team! If you're interested in buying Spleen Support Formula (Wei Ling Tang) from us please request authorization from your vet here: https://tcvmpet.com/pages/get-an-authorization. Your vet can write in the name of the formula. Thank you for supporting Chinese Medicine!
I don't see dosage in description to see how many to order. Can you please advise? Thank you
Hi, thank you for your question!
Vets usually choose a dose based on individual characteristics, constitution, and symptoms. Dosing and duration depend on the weight of the animal and its condition.
We recommend you contact your vet as the dosing and duration for the formula can vary from patient to patient.
