Active Ingredient Actions

Each nutrient in PET | TAO Daily Vitamins is selected for its essential role in canine health, metabolism, and whole-body wellness.

  • Vitamin A (450 IU): Fat-soluble vitamin essential for vision (especially night vision), immune function, skin and coat health, and normal cell growth and differentiation; provided as Vitamin A Palmitate and Beta Carotene
  • Vitamin D3 (100 IU): Fat-soluble vitamin critical for calcium and phosphorus absorption, bone mineralization, immune regulation, and muscle function; dogs cannot synthesize adequate D3 from sunlight alone
  • Vitamin E (2.7 IU): Fat-soluble antioxidant that protects cell membranes from oxidative damage; supports immune function, skin health, and reproductive health
  • Thiamine (Vitamin B1, 1.5 mg): Water-soluble B vitamin essential for carbohydrate metabolism and neurological function; critical for energy production in high-demand tissues such as the brain and heart
  • Riboflavin (Vitamin B2, 1.7 mg): Essential cofactor for cellular energy metabolism (FAD and FMN); supports healthy skin, coat, and mucous membranes
  • Niacin (14 mg): Water-soluble B vitamin that supports energy metabolism (NAD/NADP cofactor), DNA repair, and healthy skin; dogs have a limited ability to synthesize niacin from tryptophan and require dietary sources
  • Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6, 0.18 mg): Essential for amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, red blood cell production, and immune function
  • Vitamin B12 (0.002 mg): Essential for DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, and nervous system health; particularly important for dogs on plant-based or non-animal-protein diets
  • Calcium (139 mg): The most abundant mineral in the body; essential for bone and tooth formation, muscle contraction, nerve transmission, and blood clotting; particularly important for dogs on home-cooked diets that may be calcium-deficient
  • Phosphorus (122 mg): Works with calcium to support bone and tooth structure; essential for energy metabolism (ATP), DNA/RNA synthesis, and cell membrane integrity
  • Potassium (0.02 mg): Major intracellular electrolyte; supports nerve transmission, muscle contraction, and fluid balance
  • Magnesium (1 mg): Essential cofactor for over 300 enzymatic reactions; supports energy production, protein synthesis, bone health, and muscle and nerve function
  • Iron (7 mg): Essential component of hemoglobin and myoglobin; supports oxygen transport and storage in red blood cells and muscle tissue
  • Copper (0.058 mg): Trace mineral essential for iron metabolism, collagen and connective tissue synthesis, nervous system function, and pigmentation of coat and skin
  • Manganese (0.088 mg): Essential cofactor for bone development, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and antioxidant enzyme activity (manganese superoxide dismutase)
  • Zinc (1.7 mg): Trace mineral critical for immune function, wound healing, protein synthesis, skin and coat health, and reproductive health; deficiency is common in dogs on unbalanced home-cooked diets
  • Iodine (0.07 mg): Essential for thyroid hormone synthesis, which regulates metabolism, growth, and energy balance
  • Cobalt (0.026 mg): A component of Vitamin B12; supports red blood cell formation and neurological function. Not recognized as an essential nutrient by AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles

What are PET | TAO Daily Vitamins used for?

PET | TAO Daily Vitamins is a time-released multivitamin tablet formulated to fill nutritional gaps and support whole-body wellness in adult dogs. It provides a full spectrum of essential vitamins (A, D3, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, iodine) in a single daily tablet. Formulated for dogs over 1 year of age; not intended for puppies.

How do I give PET | TAO Daily Vitamins to my dog?

You can give the chewable tablets directly or crumble them and mix them into food. Dogs up to 10 lbs receive 1/2 tablet daily; dogs over 10 lbs receive 1 to 2 tablets daily. This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Follow your veterinarian's guidance if dosing differs from the label.

Does my dog need a multivitamin if they eat complete and balanced food?

Many healthy dogs on complete and balanced commercial diets receive adequate nutrition from their food. However, dogs on home-cooked diets, raw diets, or non-fortified foods may have nutritional gaps that daily supplementation can help fill. Age, appetite, lifestyle, and individual health needs can also influence requirements. Ask your veterinarian whether a daily multivitamin is appropriate for your dog.

Can PET | TAO Daily Vitamins be combined with other supplements?

Always consult your veterinarian before combining Daily Vitamins with other vitamins, minerals, fortified foods, or supplements. Combining products may provide excessive amounts of certain nutrients, particularly fat-soluble vitamins A and D and minerals such as calcium and iron. Your veterinarian can help determine the right supplement combination for your dog's diet and health needs.

  • From what countries are these vitamins sourced? Is there a list stating the forms of each vitamin/ mineral, such as folate or beta carotene?

Thanks for your question! These vitamins are sourced globally, but from the USA when available. However, none of the contents are from China. We currently don't have a list on our site stating the forms of each vitamin/ mineral, such as folate or beta carotene, but we have reached out to the manufacturer and will update our product page accordingly. You will also receive an emailed notification when we make this update. Thank you for your patience and for your interest in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine!

  • Do these vitamins have any form of yeast, corn or fish? (PetTao daily vitamins) (I have a dog with multiple food sensitivites)

Thank you for your question! There is no corn or fish, but there is Brewer's Dried Yeast in the formula.

  • Does the multivitamin contain synthetic vitamins?

    Hi, thanks for your question!

The vitamins in the supplement are synthetic but the PET | TAO freeze-dried raw food contains natural sources of vitamins and minerals rather than synthetic. They are complete and balanced using only natural whole food ingredients to meet the vitamin/mineral requirements, which is rare in a pet food.

  • Can these be given to cats?

    Thank you for your email!

The PET | TAO Daily Vitamins (90 Tablets) are only for dogs. However, we recommend Only Natural Pet Ultimate Daily Vitamins Plus Feline.
